Better hook some tickets soon to the feel-good cookout of the summer. The season’s first installment of Salmon Enchanted Evening sold out, with more than 450 folks feasting on one of the beautifully put together meals wrangled by Tom Douglas and his crackerjack crew.
Beyond relishing the heck of a meal deal ($20 for the whole shebang) served Aug. 17 in Victor Steinbrueck Park near Pike Place Market, these events have raised big bucks for Seattle’s Parks Department. In June, the happy totals were around $10,000, a big chunk of cash made even more impressive because of the generous businesses that donate ingredients to make this dinner such a success:
Orca Bay donates all of the salmon. Nearly 200 pounds was Rubbed with Love and grilled over wood during June's cookout.
Charlie’s Produce donates all of the fresh produce for salads and sides.
Washington state blueberry growers donate fruit for the blueberry crisps.
Merlino’s donates all of the cups, plates and silverware.
Tommy D donates the labor and the meal is served by an army of volunteers.
This truly is a heart-warming, belly-filling community effort. So, what are you waiting for? Get your tickets!
