“This” at Seattle Repertory Theatre
Through 5/15 –
Known for such outrageous roles as Hedwig (in Hedwig and the Angry Inch), the emcee in Cabaret and the negligee-clad lead singer of local band The Love Markets, Seattle actor Nick Garrison is now making the stretch to play a regular guy—Alan, in the relationship comedy/drama This. He’s joined by fellow Seattle theater luminaries Hans Altwies (An Iliad) and Cheyenne Casebier (Betrayal) in this relationship drama that’s funny, sad and most of all, modern. Times and prices vary. Seattle Repertory Theatre, 155 Mercer St.; 206.443.2222; seattlerep.org. BONUS: Check out Brangien Davis’ haiku review of “This.”

Yee-haw for Seattle’s beloved country crooner—compared variously to Iris Dement, Nanci Griffith and Emmylou Harris—who released her new album Starlight Hotel on Signature Sounds this week.
