MUST MARVEL
Moisture Festival
Opens Thursday (3/21–4/14) — It’s another welcome sign of spring when Hale’s Palladium in Fremont suddenly fills with contortionists, comedians and a variety of clowns. This marks the tenth year of the Moisture Festival, which showcases a veritable circus of audacious, hilarious, gravity-defying and sometimes risque vaudeville acts. A few highlights among over fifty performances include: Tom Noddy’s Bubble Magic, Wang Hong the foot juggler, burlesque performers sharing true stories from “behind the glitter” and an appearance by the real Dr. Patch Adams. (Note: some performances are not appropriate for young children. Read the schedule carefully!)

MUST SEE
Good People
Ongoing (3/8–3/31) — The financially struggling mother of a disabled daughter risks everything on a wealthy old flame in this funny yet troubling Tony-nominated play, which asks whether the American Dream is most readily achieved through struggle, circumstances or skill. If you or someone you know can identify with “financially struggling,” take advantage of the Rep’s special offer for this show: a limited number of $1 tickets to each remaining performance. Call or visit the Seattle Rep box office after 12 p.m. on the day of the show to claim a Dollar Store Deal ticket. 2-ticket limit per person.

3/8–3/31. Times and prices vary. Seattle Repertory Theatre, 155 Mercer St.; 206.443.2222; seattlerep.org

John Doyle Bishop, Local Fashion Icon
Sunday (3/24) — Dearly departed Seattle designer and shop owner John Doyle Bishop was well known for his flamboyant character and passionate belief in Seattle’s unique fashion sense (case in point: this photo, in which he is sporting a striking pair of monogrammed pants). Attend the MOHAI lecture this weekend to learn more stories and insights from his fascinating life, such as how he was famously arrested on St. Patrick’s Day in 1972.
