There’s a few new touches, including soft lighting, splashes of orange and dark gray paint, counter seating that overlooks the water (best view in the house), and a surfboard hanging from the ceiling. It really looks amazing (said while typing from the bar). Co-owner Kamala Saxton says the new decor is just phase one: “We have murals and other stuff coming!”/p
pThe popular Hawaiian-Korean fusion joint has also rolled out summer hours, which basically means it’s open an hour later most days of the week (Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.).nbsp;/p
pAnd since the water taxi, located on the same dock as Ma Kai, is officially on its summer schedule as well, here’s a few choice dining destinations to add to your sunny agenda:/p
pstronga href=”http://saltys.com/seattle/” target=”_blank”Salty’s/a:/strongnbsp;The stalwart of Alki has one of the best decks in Seattle. When the sun is out, head outside, grab a cocktail and drink in the view.nbsp;/p
pstronga href=”http://www.elliottsoysterhouse.com/” target=”_blank”Elliott’s/a:/strong Order the oysters. Some of the best shucked in all of Seattle./p
pWalk up the Pike Street Hill Climb into Pike Place Market. Once comfortably on cobblestone, hit up some of the romantic spots that have stood the test of time: stronga href=”http://www.placepigalle-seattle.com/” target=”_blank”Place Pigalle/a /strong(best view of the Great Wheel), stronga href=”http://www.maximilienrestaurant.com/” target=”_blank”Maximilien/a/strong (one of the best, nearly rooftop outdoor patios in Seattle) and stronga href=”http://ilbistro.net/” target=”_blank”Il Bistro/a/strong (extremely romantic and cavern-like)./p
pstronga href=”http://zigzagseattle.com/” target=”_blank”Zig Zag/a/strong, while not quite as old school, does serve food in addition to it’s famous cocktails. In fact, Tyler Moritz, who most recently worked in the kitchen at stronga href=”http://\/\/seattlemag.com/article/winners-seattle-magazines-2014-best-re…” target=”_blank”Roux/a/strong, isnow running the kitchen at Zig Zag.nbsp;/p
pJust south of the Pike Street Hill Climb is Harbor Steps. Half-way up is stronga href=”http://www.lecosho.com/” target=”_blank”Lecosho/a/strong, a very underrated and sometimes forgotten about gem that has consistently good, well-executed food that always seems to be my answer to the quesiton, “Where should I go to lunch downtown?” Give it another visit if you haven’t been in ages.nbsp;/p
pSo, there you have it. A few spots worthy of your water taxi time. Now, if only the sun would come out and stay.nbsp;/p
