Sounders Women Home Opener
Thursday (5/31) - There’s another Sounders team in town that deserves your “scarves-up!” attention: the Sounders Women. After generating off-season buzz by signing national team player (and former Husky star) Hope Solo, the women kick off the home opener against the Colorado Rush tonight. Say it with us: Gooooal! p.s. If you miss home opener, check out one of the many home games in June.

Red, Black and Green: A Blues
You may remember Oakland-based Marc Bamuthi Joseph from his show the break/s, in which he pondered the influence of Jay-Z and other hip-hop kings. Now, he’s using his fast-paced, multimedia performance style to tackle the impacts of climate change.

Emerald City Visions (A Hip-hop Reinterpretation of The Wiz)
Stranger columnist Larry Mizell Jr. has orchestrated an unusual meeting of artistic minds to produce a contemporary, live re-mix of Michael Jackson musical The Wiz. Emerging local hip-hop talent—including faves Don't Talk to the Cops and Metal Chocolates—will perform as DJ DV-One mixes video clips on screen.

Cafe Flora Turns 20
This weekend Cafe Flora celebrates 20 years of bringing fresh and sustainable vegetarian food to the Madrona neighborhood with a special benefit bash. The ticketed event allows you to mingle with the chefs and farmers that keep the fare at Flora so fresh. Of course, we recommend going any old day and celebrating this Seattle mainstay over a bowl of just-picked Hayton Strawberries.

Father’s Day Gifts for New Dads
New dads are in for a treat this month—the first barrage of Father’s Day gifts. Before resorting to the business tie route, try a locally made diaper bag that doubles as a tech-ready tote, or perhaps a custom guitar pick for the pop who, in his heart, never truly quit his garage band.
