WHERE: Wenatchee, Washington. WHY: For the grand opening of Pybus Public Market (Open daily starting 5/11. 7 N Worthen St.). WHAT: The former E.T. Pybus steel fabrication plant, located on a 25,000-square-foot waterfront lot next to the Columbia River, has been transformed into a lively locus of Northwest commerce and culture. Meander through the huge, lofty space and indulge in offerings from local farmers, winemakers, merchants and craftspeople. YUM: Don’t miss the sweet potato enchiladas from the new minibranch of South, a locally loved Mexican restaurant, and freshly baked viennoiseries from Anjou Bakery. PACK YOUR LEDERHOSEN: If you go for opening weekend, be sure to stop in Leavenworth, where the annual Maifest (5/10–5/12) celebrates spring, Bavarian style. Prepare for maypole dancing, live oompah bands, yodeling galore and a Bavarian costume contest. GETTING THERE: From Seattle, head east on I-90 and follow signs for Wenatchee.
