The 2017 Seattle International Film Festival is currently in full swing, with last Thursday’s opening night film, The Big Sick, kicking off the festivities at McCaw Hall. Seattleites are making waves in the sprawling fest, but there is no shortage of stellar films from around the globe.

Our pal Nancy Guppy, who arrived in style by Amazon drone, was on hand for her annual red carpet special. Check out her opening night recap below, which shines the spotlight on local talent and what (and who) to watch at this year’s fest.
