Best of the Best: Breezy Town Pizza

For the past year, self-taught pizza mastermind Dave Lichterman has been working on a sourdough crust out of his Windy City Pie kitchen in Interbay. At Breezy Town, open on Beacon Hill since March inside the delightfully divey new Clock-Out Lounge, he gives that crust a starring role in an intentionally tongue-in-cheek take on Chicago- and Detroit-style pizza that thankfully still features his signature burnt-cheese edges.

With this sturdier pan-style crust and half the amount of sauce used at Windy City, Breezy Town slices could, if you don’t mind a little mess, be picked up with your hands. And while the slice of the day is always something a little irreverent—topped with the likes of gochujang, brisket or eggs during weekend brunch service—we can’t get enough of the Pepperoni Paint Job ($21 for its house 12” pie), a simple double pepperoni pie with a craftsman’s execution.
