LARGE COMPANIES: 150-plus full-time Washington employees

1.Icertis
Technology, Bellevue
CEO: Samir Bodas

The company, which refers to its workers as “Icertians,” prioritizes community service. Icertis employees last year volunteered to clean up a local park for Earth Day, and had a large group attend the Seattle Pride Parade. Workers are encouraged to share their favorite movie during regular Friday lunches.

2.Nintex
Technology, Bellevue
CEO: Eric Johnson

Workers receive four “additional holidays” annually to promote wellness and to enjoy access to health and wellness subscription apps. They also get unlimited time off.

3.Edward Jones
Insurance, St. Louis
Managing Partner: Penny Pennington

In each region, a financial adviser and branch office administrator win the Ted Jones Spirit of Caring Award (named after the company founder) for exemplifying the values, culture and spirit of giving back. Peers choose winners, who receive medallions embossed with Jones’ image.

A virtual connections team keeps workers informed about important company business and each department has its own traditions promoting fun and employee engagement such as games and outings.

5.Spur Reply

The SAH group (Spur After Hours) develops at least a half-dozen fun events throughout the year. The company offers mental health days to the entire firm during months with no holidays so that employees can enjoy at least one long weekend every month.

Hard-working employees unwind by playing ping-pong or walking trails near offices. Charitable events include the annual United Way Pie in the Face fundraiser.

Panda is based in Rosemead, Calif., but operates 69 Panda Express restaurants across Washington. The company’s Leave Share Program lets employees donate vacation hours into a pool to support colleagues who are experiencing a loss of income due to health conditions, natural disasters and other hardships.
