Covetable Cashmere From Paychi Guh

This article originally appeared in the October 2013 issue of Seattle magazine.

After 15 years at Nordstrom, textile designer and design director Paychi Karen Guh struck out on her own in the spring of 2012 with Paychi Guh, a line of cashmere sweaters, scarves and tops from yarn sourced and spun in Mongolia. Guh uses very fine, lightweight cashmere, culled from the downy undercoats of Mongolian goats, which is resistant to pilling, thanks to the long, thin fibers that make up the fabric. A fan of Japanese fashion, geometry and asymmetry, Guh is less interested in “chasing the trends” than she is in providing a “yummy item in a woman’s closet that makes her feel happy.” Treated well, cashmere of this quality can last a lifetime, making it a wise investment in wearable luxury. Available at Juniper (Madrona, 3314 E Spring St.; 206.838.7496; juniperinmadrona.com and at paychiguh.com)
