Edmonds Gains an All-American Restaurant With a Sweet Patio

At 190 Sunset, wedge salads and rib-eye steaks are best enjoyed alfresco.

Under the gently rounded roof of an old waterfront Safeway in Edmonds, 190 Sunset has found a home with good company: The charming Cascadia Art Museum, Scratch Distillery and Brigid’s Bottleshop all operate at the same address (which is, obviously, 190 Sunset Ave.).

The restaurant’s menu is all-American—crab cakes, wedge salad, pan-seared halibut, rib-eyes, a bacon cheeseburger—executed by chef (and partner) Clive Gomez, who knows his way around an iconic local kitchen, having spent time at Ray’s Boathouse, Metropolitan Grill and most recently, Toulouse Petit. The owner is Tom Budinick, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, running everything from an Auntie Anne’s pretzel franchise to 13 Coins and El Gaucho.

Not surprising given this experience, 190 Sunset is a safe bet, and not just for the elevated American menu that doesn’t stray too far from tradition. The space is casual enough that you could walk off the ferry and in for a drink—if you do, make sure you grab a seat next to one of the gas fire pits on the patio. 190 Sunset Edmonds, 190 Sunset Ave.; 425.409.2086; 190sunset.com
