Sallyann Corn and Joe Kent built their design business fruitsuper around perfecting everyday objects—in both form and function. In September, they opened a Pioneer Square space of the same name to sell their popular housewares, from cloth napkins (pictured, $48 for four) and white marble spoon rests to angular bookends, as well as a curated assortment of U.S.-made goods from independent artisans. “What I want to do is [stock] things you can’t find anywhere else,” Corn says. She has succeeded: fruitsuper is the sort of place where you want one of everything, whether for yourself or to give as a gift. Although the couple sells a great deal of their goods online (fruitsuper.com), Corn says the store will be a testing ground for limited-edition, small-batch items, like Kent’s hand-carved coffee spoons.
