In cross-disciplinary artist Kat Larson’s ongoing series, The Ghost from Vega, haunting video stills focus on a mysterious fuchsia-clad being, often shot against equally puzzling Great Plains landscapes.
She’s treating her new video and photography show, The Lens of Lyra (A Phenomenology of Spirit), like another chapter in this ongoing narrative: That alien being, Lyra, has a plan for humanity that includes a “quest for militant positivity”—and, given every day’s headlines, that can’t come too soon.
