Locally Made Bow Ties and Accessories For the Dapper Man

This article originally appeared in the August 2014 issue of Seattle magazine.

“Bow ties really reflect an individual’s pride and attention to detail,” says Erin McCoy, owner of Hank’s Haberdashery, a snappy line of dapper bow ties ($40) and pocket squares ($20) available on Etsy. The Eastlake-based McCoy started Hank’s Haberdashery in 2012 as a way to indulge her creative side (she’s a women’s health researcher at the University of Washington by day) and to fill a gap she saw in the market for well-made men’s accessories using beautiful fabric. Her inspiration comes from the gorgeous vintage textiles she finds while scouring the city’s estate sales, giving the fabric a second chance to shine. Attention to detail is one of McCoy’s hallmarks; she has honed and tweaked her design over the years—something anyone who’s ever tried tying a bow tie will certainly appreciate. etsy.com/shop/hankshaberdashery
