Pioneer square shoppers looking for the perfect present need simply to wander down the stairs of shoe boutique Clementines. Starting on November 1, the store’s 500-square-foot basement will be transformed into a curated salon of artwork, home furnishings and accessories, both vintage and by emerging Seattle artists.
“My perfect shopping scenario is where I get to discover things,” owner Linda Walsh says.
Such things in Walsh’s pop-up include antique lamps with custom shades by Kerrie Deck, Alicia Craft ceramics and works by several artists from Alki Arts.
“I know so many people who are makers,” Walsh says of the artists whose wares will be on sale through January 1. “The holidays are a time for special gifts. For me, I’d rather give something made by a person.”
The greatest gift of all? The majority of proceeds from purchases (prices start at $10 for a candleholder and go up to $1,000 for a classic Hans Wegner shell chair) go to each artist.
