New Erotic Film Fest Wants Seattle to Talk About Sex

SECS Fest
(9/8–9/10) This sex-positive international film festival—the first from the Seattle Erotic Cinema Society (SECS)—celebrates the art of erotic cinema while inspiring audiences to remove taboos from talking about sex. The festival spans all styles and genres, in short and feature films, including some from what SECS director DeAnna Berger calls “the golden age of adult cinema.” Times and prices vary. Sell Your Sole’s Fall Preview Event
(9/7) If you love animals and a good deal then get thee to Sell Your Sole consignment boutique, where owner Natalia Wittke will reveal a new batch of coveted fall clothing and accessories from high-end designers at a slice of the price. Seattle stylist Nicole Jackson will help pick out the perfect outfit for shoppers, who can also expect delicious bites and a signature rose and white peach sangria cocktail, with a portion of sales going toward animal rescue nonprofit Seattle Humane. Northwest Tequila Fest
(9/9) While cider lovers converge in South Lake Union this weekend, agave enthusiasts will have their own party in Renton at the fifth Annual Northwest Tequila Fest. Featuring more than 150 agave spirits including tequila, mezcal and sotol, this festival celebrates distilled Mexican drinks and also includes lectures by industry experts on the history and future of the drinks. Spit buckets are provided for those who are trying to taste as much tequila as they can without the consequences. 4-8 p.m. Prices vary. Whim W’him Choreographic Shindig
Now in its third year, this competition-based show—involving more than 100 applying choreographers—features new creations from Adam Barruch, Bruno Roque and Banning Bouldin. This is a chance to see a versatile dance company (led by Whim W’him artistic director and former PNB dancer Olivier Wevers) as it adapts to three different dance scenarios arranged by a diverse, distinctive group of choreographers.
