Two Seattle Hotspots Named Among America’s Best New Restaurants
And Seattle's representatives couldn't be more different.
By Chelsea Lin August 1, 2017
National foodie mag Bon Appetit just released their list of the 50 best new restaurants in America, and guess what? Seattle made the cut.
French showstopper Marmite and lunchtime game-changer Mean Sandwich, both spots we reviewed and loved in the last year, are representing our fair city on the list. (We’re guessing JuneBaby didn’t open in time to make the cut, since the Southern hotspot has gotten nothing but accolades since it opened in April.)
The other four Northwest finalists were all from Portland (d’oh).
What we appreciate about this list is the diversity—that there’s room for both a very casual sandwich shop that throws backyard keggers and a refined French restaurant run by a fine dining vet is very telling.
Check back August 15, when the magazine releases it’s top 10 from these 50. And just a few weeks later, you’ll be able to read our own picks for best new restaurants in our September issue.
