It’s never going to be easy to turn down one of those brownies your coworker brought to the office or to resist a sweet treat from the vending machine down the hall, but your odds improve if there’s a healthy alternative close at hand.

Market Fresh Fruit, a Seattle-based service, delivers 100 percent organic, locally grown, fresh fruit to offices all over the metro area. The company currently delivers more than 10,000 pieces of fruit per week to businesses that range in size from 12 to 1,000-plus employees. In order to offer the freshest, best-tasting options, the service changes the selection each week, but focuses on fruits that are easy to munch at your desk, such as apples and cherries.

Owner Tom O’Connor, a former Pike Place Market produce vendor, says he launched Market Fresh Fruit with the aim of helping employers reduce health care costs and increase productivity at work. Prices start at $40 for a package containing 38–40 servings of hand-selected fruit. For more information, check out the company’s website.
