Got a hankering for Icelandic cod or lamb loin? Perhaps a mushroom-filled pâté choux with Feykir cheese foam is more your thing.

Either way, you can get your Iceland on at Seattle’s annual Taste of Iceland Festival. The festival, which tours in a handful of cities across North America, makes its third stop in Seattle from Oct. 3-5.

Seattle and Reykjavik — Iceland’s capital and largest city — are sister cities, and Reykjavik Mayor Einar Þorsteinsson will be in Seattle to celebrate the special connection during the festival. The festival features an array of public events celebrating the land of fire and ice across Seattle, including food and beverage, music, comedy, literature, design, nature, and wellness.

Seafood, Shakespeare, and a circus chicken

Hey, how’s it going? We’ve got good stuff this week: Susan Lieu is stepping in as interim director at Theatre Off Jackson (a personal hero of mine), and you can hear about the gig in her own words right here. And have you seen the new cloud installation at the Seattle Art Museum? It’s delightful….

Upcoming TedxTalk is more than a conference. It’s a movement

Images courtesy of Meraki Creative Before there were hashtags or TEDx Talks, there were stories. That’s where “Our Heroes’ Journey” comes in. In a world that often feels fractured, TEDxBelltown Women returns Nov. 8, with a full-day event designed to ignite connection, courage, and change. This year’s theme, “Our Heroes’ Journey,” serves not just as…

Mysterious sharks, flirty stormtroopers, and a sky full of fireworks

What are you doing for the 4th? I caught some early fireworks after an AquaSox game on Saturday — so pretty. Not everyone loves them, though. My sister’s dog has to be held like a baby all night. Thinking of those who struggle with the noise, and cheering on anyone braving the Seattle crowds. This…

Spoiler alert: Seattle Comes Out on Top

This week, Seattleites gear up to celebrate our nation’s birthday with classic Fourth of July traditions. Some will grill salmon on the rooftop of a houseboat, while others gather in parks with burgers and Seattle Dogs, while hikers swap picnic blankets for mountain views. But as the sun dips behind the Olympics, everyone will turn…
