Best Sports Team: Seattle Storm

By Seattle Mag November 26, 2024

Players clad in "Storm" uniforms exchange high-fives on the basketball court as members of the opposing sports team, in red attire, look on. The stadium seats are partly filled with spectators, rooting for their favorite teams, including the spirited Seattle Storm.

This article originally appeared in the November/December 2024 issue of Seattle magazine.

We asked. You answered. Our annual Readers’ Choice awards highlights the best of the city in numerous categories. From neighborhoods to restaurants and all in-between, these are your picks about what makes the city tick.

The Seattle Storm isn’t just the city’s most popular sports team. It’s also its most successful. The WNBA club has enjoyed 18 winning seasons since its inception in 2000, and of course has won four championships. Having one of the best WNBA players of all time in Sue Bird doesn’t hurt, either. Bird retired two years ago but was around for all four titles.

Hot Tip

If you’re a regular you know this, but plan on standing until the Storm scores its first basket.
