Funko’s WNBA Deal Showcases Top Stars

Collectibles company creates Pop! figures of Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, others

Two Funko Pop! figures of female basketball players holding basketballs, one in a red Fever #22 uniform and the other in a black Iowa #22 uniform, stand side by side.

I love the Seattle Storm, and all things WNBA. My passion for women’s basketball even predates Caitlin Clark. My wife and I recently bought a partial season-ticket package, and my basketball-obsessed son closely analyzes games to help him improve.

Now comes news that Everett pop culture collectibles company Funko has signed a deal with the WNBA to launch its first-ever WNBA Pop! Figures highlighting four players: A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, former Storm standout and New York Liberty center Breanna Stewart and, of course, Clark. Sales begin May 14.

Funko, founded in 1998, previously launched a similar initiative with the NBA.

“The recent rapid rise of the WNBA, the power of its players as engaging brand ambassadors, and its passionate fanbase are a testament to the power of sports culture,” Funko CEO Cynthia Williams says. “It’s about celebrating the energy, talent, and influence of women’s basketball.”

The Storm open their season at Phoenix on May 17.
