Must List: Top 6 Events in Seattle This Week
Big laughs, sultry spooks, magical stories
By Sarah Stackhouse October 24, 2024

As we inch closer to the election, nerves are running high, but at least in the office, we can take solace in the lighter side of things — like debating whether Portland or Seattle has the best food scene (it’s Seattle, of course). That said, I was in Portland recently, and the Multnomah Whiskey Library blew my mind… so did Cubo. Both were ridiculously good. Portland’s Central Eastside is becoming the city’s hottest hangout with its trendy restaurants and shops. Meanwhile, Seattle’s vacant office buildings could be transformed into shared living spaces to tackle homelessness. Oh, and Sweetgreen just opened its third Seattle location, bringing automated salad-making to Capitol Hill.
Here’s what’s happening in Seattle this week…
Sebastian Maniscalco
Friday Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m.
Climate Pledge Arena
$69.50+
Sebastian Maniscalco, one of the funniest stand-up comedians today, brings his IT AIN’T RIGHT tour to Climate Pledge Arena. Born and raised in Chicago, he’s ready to share what’s been bugging him lately — don’t you wanna know?
This Is Halloween
Now-Nov. 2
The Triple Door
$49+
The fog’s rolling in, and it’s time for This Is Halloween, Seattle’s yearly Halloween staple. This dark fantasy burlesque musical brings Jack Skellington’s spooky misadventures to life with Can Can cabaret, live music, and sultry dance numbers.
Dia de Muertos Festival Seattle
Oct. 26-27, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Seattle Center
Free
Día de Muertos is a tradition I’ve shared with my family since my Mexican grandpa passed on. Honoring our loved ones with their favorite things is beautiful, but doing it in a community makes it even more special. Head to Seattle Center for community altars, sugar skulls, art, food, music, and a joyful celebration of life.
Seattle Restaurant Week
Oct. 27-Nov. 9
Participating restaurants
$20+
Seattle Restaurant Week is back. For two weeks, you can explore Seattle’s diverse food scene with curated menus ranging from $20 to $65 at restaurants, bars, cafes, food trucks, and pop-ups across the city. Don’t miss your chance to try something new and delicious.
Kelly Link
Monday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m.
Town Hall-Great Hall
$7+
Neil Gaiman calls her a “national treasure,” and it’s easy to see why. Her first novel, The Book of Love, tells the story of three teenagers who come back from the dead to uncover the mysteries of their deaths. Joining her is Ted Chiang, another incredible author. Together, they’ll be discussing love, magic, and everything in between.
Maggie Rogers: The Don’t Forget Me Tour
Tuesday, Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m.
Climate Pledge Arena
$30+
Born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Rogers studied at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, where Questlove was one of her professors. You probably know her from hits like “Alaska” and “Light On,” but her live performances take her folk-meets-electronic sound to the next level. Special guest Ryan Beatty joins her — don’t miss this one.
