Seattle’s Soccer Lesson Goes for the Record
Pier 62 to host a massive soccer class aiming to break a Guinness World Record

All you need are some sneakers and a record-breaking spirit.
On Sunday, June 15, Seattle will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest soccer lesson. The goal is to bring together more than 1,000 people for a 30-minute session led by alumni from Sounders FC and Reign FC.
The current record stands at 956 participants, set by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2023.
The event also marks exactly one year until Seattle hosts its first FIFA World Cup 26 match at Lumen Field. It’s organized by Sounders, Reign, the RAVE Foundation, Puyallup Tribe of Indians, and the Seattle FIFA World Cup 26 local organizing committee.
“This record-breaking event is more than a celebration; it’s a statement,” said Peter Tomozawa, CEO of SeattleFWC26. “A statement that Seattle is a true soccer city and a proud host city.”
The event also honors the region’s cultural heritage, with a special acknowledgment of the Coast Salish tribal communities, including the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. “We’re thrilled to have their support in bringing the community together for this special moment,” said Ashley Fosberg, chief impact and fan engagement officer for Sounders FC and Reign FC.
