Still Spa at the Woodmark Hotel
Those hoping to escape city bustle but avoid the travel time to a remote resort will relish the serene waterfront oasis of Still Spa (Kirkland). The aptly named lakeside escape reopened in February after a renovation that expanded the men’s locker room (hello, sauna!) and the main relaxation area, now primed for larger parties. After sipping sparkling wine, indulge in new services, including CBD massage, facials featuring custom products for men, and targeted massage followed by a craft beer.

Elaia Spa at the Hyatt at Olive 8
The Elaia Spa, inside the Hyatt at Olive 8 hotel, is the perfect downtown Seattle retreat. This eco-friendly spa supports a more active wellness game, with a state-of-the-art fitness center that includes a saltwater lap pool, steam room, dry sauna and Jacuzzi. Services include an array of massages, facials and body treatments designed to make you feel your best. Treatments of note: massage cupping (a favorite among Olympic athletes) and massage enhancements that use hot stones, including rose quartz.

Alderbrook Resort and Spa
For a truly authentic Pacific Northwest weekend getaway, head to the Alderbrook Resort and Spa (Union), surrounded by nearly 90 acres of beautiful terrain and scenic views of the Olympic mountain range. Many spa services were designed with the Hood Canal environs in mind, including guided forest meditations (shinrin-yoku), volcanic pumice scrubs and mineral-rich seaweed body wraps.

Penelope and the Beauty Bar at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel
Tucked inside the Fairmont Olympic Hotel is Penelope and the Beauty Bar, a cozy, dimly lit hideaway featuring some of the region’s most sought-after skincare and spa services. The lavish treatments—infrared body wraps, sugar-based hair removal services—are overshadowed only by the luxe products used, such as A-list brands Biologique Recherche, Omorovicza and Medical Beauty Research.

The Spa at Willows Lodge
Woodinville may be close enough for a day trip, but it’s most enjoyable—particularly if you’re partaking at the abundant wineries—when you make a weekend out of it with an overnight stay at the rustic-chic Willows Lodge. The hotel’s spa was renovated in 2018, with improvements to the treatment rooms and the addition of a new women’s relaxation area; however, its main draw is still the outdoor heated pool, located in a secluded Zen courtyard that feels a world away from reality. Go for a classic massage or really live it up with the new 90-minute platinum HydraFacial: a combination of cleansing, extraction, exfoliation, hydration and antioxidant protection for your skin.

T Spa at Tulalip Resort Casino
Planning a trip to the Seattle Premium Outlets? Keep the nearby T Spa at Tulalip Resort Casino (Tulalip) in mind—the massive 14,000-square-foot retreat could be just what you need after an intense day of bargain hunting. Guests can book standard services, including massages, facials and manicures, or explore T Spa’s unique offerings, such as teeth-whitening sessions or milk baths and other hydrotherapy rituals.

All 'rules' have exceptions

I know that there is generally an ironclad sentiment that honesty is always best. But I would like to propose a reexamination of that “always” word. Because I think, no matter how much we all want to know the truth about everything, that the absolute truth is sometimes too brutal, and sometimes too destructive, to

Seattle is emerging as a leader in using psychedelics for mental health

Right or wrong, psychedelics have long been relegated to the fringes of society, dismissed as dangerous substances with no legitimate medical value. Having grown up during the late ‘60s and ‘70s, my word associations for “magic mushrooms” were always with “Woodstock hippies” or worse, “Charles Manson.” But recent research taking place in our region has

Seattle magazine's 24th annual list of the best doctors in the Puget Sound region

Finding a doctor can be overwhelming. Referrals from friends and family are helpful, of course, but, in partnership with Castle Connolly, we want to make the process easier. For more than two decades, Seattle magazine has published a list of the region’s top doctors. None paid to be included and all were nominated by their…
