Don Rees is your sliding-door man. Founder of Real Carriage Door Company (Gig Harbor, 9803 44th Ave. NW; 253.853.3815), he’s been in the home-building business for more than 30 years and has a knack for constructing impressive entrances. In today’s door world, reclaimed barnwood is the new black; some doors even come with a certificate revealing the wood’s origin, such as barnwood sourced from the old Rainier Brewery. Made in Gig Harbor, Rees’ doors (which start at $500) are available in a variety of woods and can be customized. Sliding and dividing, these doors mix the practicality of a small (or large) space solution with the flair of a stylish statement piece.
