It turns out that those detailed genealogy reports from the likes of Ancestry or 23andMe are good for more than stalking your second cousins on the internet. TCS World Travel, a luxury travel concierge based in downtown Seattle, will take this information and plan a custom vacation to and through the lands of your ancestors as part of its new legacy journey offerings. Imagine taking a cooking class to re-create the food of your Russian relatives, reliving your grandparents’ wedding day at a temple in Japan or visiting a Scottish castle that once belonged to your family.

“Everything we do is completely customized,” says Anna Hawley, TCS’s heritage concierge. Hawley says TCS works with a genealogy consultancy, Heritage Consulting, to plan trips based on varying degrees of available family history. While those clients with relatives from countries impacted by war could find family records hard to trace, Hawley says just visiting a country that was once home to their ancestors can provide a unique, experiential trip.

“When you are traveling to a place that your family has a connection, it’s special,” Hawley says. “We’re getting to reconnect these families with their roots.”
