While our fair city is just a short trip away from scenic hikes and water activities, it’s no secret that the popularity of studio fitness classes, from vinyasa yoga to barre to Orangetheory, continues to grow. Luckily, there are plenty of Pacific Northwest–based companies creating innovative designs that are flexible enough to work in the studio—and elevate your post-workout selfie game.
Our workout favorites are brought to life on Pacific Northwest Ballet dancer Madison Taylor (see full size image below). This month, the company travels to Paris to perform at Les Étés de la Danse festival, no doubt with stylish studio wear in hand.
Unleashed Black-and-white-stripe biker tank, $70. This biker-inspired polyester and spandex blend tank from Bellevue-based Tema Athletics is cut slightly longer for a little extra breathing room.
Peaceful Peony leggings, $85. Headquartered on Capitol Hill, Nube9 uses fabrics made from postconsumer plastic. Its color-forward Peaceful Peony line is designed by Capitol Hill Barre3 owner Mary Lytle. Bonus: A percentage of the proceeds is donated to charity.
Revel running shoes, $100. The BioMoGo DNA midsole cushioning that covers the sole of this shoe from Fremont-based Brooks Running adapts to your stride, and the stylish design means it can be worn after your workout.
Tofino jacket, $85. Tacoma-based Five12 Apparel has made a name by working with athletes to develop innovative fabric and fit. Case in point, the hooded Tofino jacket (shown in Berry). Made with nylon and Spandex, it offers a unique four-way stretch, innovative Nanotex treatment to repel rain and a reflective back detail to keep you safe as you head home after class.
Runner Trucker hat, $30. Leave it to Seattle-based Oiselle (a self-described athletic apparel company “by and for women athletes”) to design a stylish, high-performance hat. The mesh sweatband wicks moisture and breathes freely, making this the perfect accessory after your next high-intensity workout.
Fit Pack 2, $135. With the backpack coming back in vogue, Nordstrom found this stylish design from San Francisco–based Aer. The streamlined pack will store your workout essentials, and there’s even a special compartment for your shoes.
