Red Tricycle Recommends: Horseback Riding with the Kids
By Seattle Mag July 14, 2011
Many of us have one — they gallop around the house, they sleep in their favorite cowboy boots, and they dream about one thing…HORSES! If you’ve got a little cowgirl or cowboy on your hands, it’s the perfect time to get them up close and personal with the animals they love. Luckily we live in an area with an abundance of options for horseback riding. Whether it’s pony rides, birthday party locations, camps or private riding lessons you seek, we’ve got you covered with a slew of options for horseback riding in Seattle. Giddyup!
Redmond
Farrel-McWhirther Farm Park
Operated by the City of Redmond, the farm’s recently reformatted Riding School offers pony and horseback riding classes from age 2 (parent & child) to adult. Birthday parties are also available.
The Farrel-McWhirther Farm Park website states, “Our horses and ponies are specifically chosen due to their high level of training or trainability, well rounded skills and personable disposition. We have a wide range of equine sizes and skills to accommodate the smallest rider to an average size adult.” So whether you are a cowboy or cowgirl of two years or seventy five years, this spot is a great place to learn the ins and outs of horseback riding.
Capstone Farm
Capstone Farm offers both Western & English riding lessons, as well as private lessons and summer camps (including some overnights). Advanced equestrian team also offered for experienced riders.
Woodinville
The Horsemanship School
The Horsemanship School offers group riding lessons, parent-child classes, spring/summer camps and “rally day” horse shows.
