Planning to hit the road for your summer vacay? How about a trip back in time?

Seattle-based Volkswagen van restoration company Peace Vans has ventured into rental territory to offer a retro road trip experience. Instead of hitting the highways with traditional summer vacation tagalongs, such as camping gear or suitcases to schlep from hotel to hotel, you can lighten your load in a rental Vanagon.

Each van has been fully restored to its original free-spirited glory, with the addition of cozy new amenities that include a built-in stove, cookware, utensils, headlamps, coffeemaker and pop-up roof tents for sleeping. Along with providing a home away from home for you and as many as three fellow adventurers, Peace Vans Rentals experts can help you plan your trip, too.

Prices vary seasonally and with the length of the trip (there’s a six-night minimum for reservations), but start at $1,425 for a week.
