The Dallas Morning News‘ Special Needs Blog recently reported on the four very diverse models featured in Nordstrom’s Anniversary catalog. One, posing with a Dooney & Bourke tote, is missing her right arm just below the elbow; another, a magazine editor in tough motorcycle boots, has muscular dystrophy and is pictured in a wheelchair; there’s also a veteran who lost his leg in Afghanistan modeling Nike running shoes; and an adorable 7-year-old with down syndrome donning a too-cute tunic.

Nordstrom spokeswoman Emily Romans told Dallas News‘ Kristie Smith that its decision to highlight models of all kinds in its collateral, regardless of physical abilities, isn’t a recent development:

We applaud you, Nordstrom! Now, where are our credit cards?
